Megastar Salman Khan’s long delayed war action drama Maatrubhumi appears to be moving closer to its theatrical release. According to an exclusive report by Variety India, the film’s trailer is scheduled to be unveiled this Friday. The makers are reportedly planning a grand launch event in Mumbai to make the most of the ongoing festive excitement. The promotional campaign is expected to gain momentum with the trailer’s release, although the film has generated limited buzz so far.
The film was originally titled Battle of Galwan but reportedly underwent significant changes after the government raised objections to certain aspects of its content, following improved relations between India and China. The trailer has reportedly received censor board certification and runs for four and a half minutes, making it one of the longest trailers in Indian cinema. Salman Khan plays an Indian Army officer inspired by Colonel Santosh, while Chitrangda Singh plays the female lead. Directed by Apoorva Lakhia and produced by Salman Khan Films, Maatrubhumi will be looking to build audience interest with its upcoming trailer.
