Several news outlets have reported that Bollywood actor Salman Khan has allegedly been declared a terrorist by Pakistan and added to its terrorist watchlist. The reason behind this move appears to be his support for the formation of an independent Balochistan.
The controversy began after Salman Khan’s remarks at the Joy Forum 2025 held in Riyadh. While speaking about Indian cinema, he also made a reference to Balochistan, which triggered outrage in Pakistan.
Salman reportedly said:
“Right now, if you release a Hindi film here (in Saudi Arabia), it becomes a super hit. If you release a Tamil, Telugu, or Malayalam film, it earns hundreds of crores because people from other countries are living here — there are people from Balochistan, from Afghanistan, from Pakistan — everyone works here.”
These remarks, though seemingly casual, were interpreted by Pakistani groups as an expression of support for the “Azad Balochistan” (Free Balochistan) separatist movement, which opposes Pakistan’s control over the region.
Although Balochistan is currently a part of Pakistan, Salman’s separate mention of it was seen as him endorsing the independence movement. Following this, Pakistani media reports claim that the country’s authorities added him to their list of terrorists, stating that even those encouraging separatist ideologies could be branded as terrorists.
However, no official statement has been issued by the Pakistani government confirming this action so far.
