Xi Jinping to Visit the US.. Key Meeting with Trump

Chinese President Xi Jinping will pay a state visit to the United States from September 23 to 25 at the invitation of US President Donald Trump. China’s Foreign Ministry said Xi and Trump will hold in-depth discussions on China-US relations as well as issues concerning world peace and development. Beijing described the reciprocal visits by the two leaders within six months as a milestone in bilateral ties.

Trump is set to personally welcome Xi at Joint Base Andrews, an unusual gesture ahead of the summit. Trade and tariffs, technology, artificial intelligence, rare earth minerals and broader security concerns are expected to feature prominently in the talks. The leaders are also likely to discuss developments involving Iran and the Middle East, as well as other global issues. US and Chinese officials have already held preparatory talks on trade and AI, including discussions on establishing a mechanism for addressing serious AI-related incidents.
