Chinese President Xi Jinping is likely to visit India in September to attend the BRICS Summit scheduled to be held in New Delhi on September 12 and 13, according to diplomatic sources. If the visit is confirmed, it will be his first trip to India since the 2020 Galwan Valley clash between Indian and Chinese troops.
Xi last visited India in October 2019. Since then, bilateral ties have been strained due to border tensions along the Line of Actual Control (LAC). Reports suggest that diplomatic engagements between the two countries may intensify before the summit, including possible visits by senior officials and border dialogue meetings. However, neither New Delhi nor Beijing has officially confirmed the proposed visit.
