Venezuela was struck by two powerful earthquakes within minutes, triggering panic across several parts of the country, including the capital city of Caracas. The strong tremors caused buildings to sway, forcing residents to rush out of their homes and offices in search of safer locations. Videos showing high-rise buildings shaking have gone viral on social media, highlighting the intensity of the seismic activity.
According to the United States Geological Survey (USGS), the first earthquake measured 7.1 in magnitude, followed shortly by a stronger 7.5-magnitude quake. The epicentre of the first tremor was located about 28 kilometres west of Morón on Venezuela's Caribbean coast at a depth of 13 kilometres. Authorities are assessing the situation, while there have been no immediate reports of casualties or major property damage.
