Woman Booked for Allegedly Threatening Ex-Fiancé

A woman has been booked by Tirupati police for allegedly threatening her former fiancé and demanding ₹3 crore to settle and withdraw a cheating case. According to East Tirupati Circle Inspector Srinivasulu, the complainant, Vamsi, a scientist working at Vijay Hospital in Chennai, had met Namrata, a deputy manager with New India Assurance Company, through a dating app. Their relationship reportedly turned into love, and they got engaged about a year ago with the consent of their families. The engagement was later called off after Vamsi allegedly faced repeated demands to transfer assets in her name and send money, prompting concerns about their future relationship.

Following the cancellation of the engagement, Namrata reportedly lodged a cheating complaint at Vanasthalipuram Police Station, leading to a case being registered in 2025. Police said the alleged threats continued over phone calls, and after Vamsi blocked her number, threatening messages were allegedly sent through email for about a month. In the latest email, she allegedly demanded ₹3 crore to settle the case and threatened to kill Vamsi and his family if the money was not paid. Based on Vamsi’s complaint, Tirupati East police registered a case and launched an investigation. The allegations are under investigation, and further details are awaited.
