Telangana BJP in Dilemma Over New Inductions

The Telangana BJP is reportedly facing an internal dilemma over inducting leaders from other political parties. The party high command has directed the state leadership to focus on expanding the organisation through new inductions. The leadership reportedly believes that large scale defections, similar to the strategy adopted in West Bengal, could help the BJP come to power in Telangana. However, state leaders point out that several leaders who contested the previous election on BJP tickets were defeated, while some later switched parties and others have remained inactive.

State leaders are also concerned that giving priority to newcomers could create dissatisfaction among the party’s long-standing cadre. They fear that sidelining loyal leaders in favour of leaders switching parties could increase internal conflicts and even prompt senior leaders to leave the party. While the state unit reportedly wants greater importance to be given to experienced local leaders over non-local or “parachute” leaders, the high command continues to push for fresh inductions.
