A suspected major irregularity in Telangana government employment has reportedly come to light, with officials identifying cases where the same Aadhaar number was allegedly used for multiple government jobs under different names. The Finance Department is said to have identified around 80 suspected duplicate employees in 40 cases across departments including Revenue, Panchayat Raj, Police, Health and Education. The issue reportedly surfaced during verification of employees’ Aadhaar details. In some cases, the same Aadhaar number was allegedly linked to employees with different names, genders and other details.
According to the preliminary findings, similar cases have reportedly been detected in the Public Health, Education, Cooperative, Revenue and Panchayat Raj departments. The investigation found that some suspected duplicate employees may have received salaries from two departments simultaneously. One such employee is estimated to have received around Rs.5 lakh in salaries during March, April and May alone. Following the findings, the Chief Secretary has reportedly ordered a detailed investigation into the suspected irregularities.
