Telangana on Red Alert as IMD Forecasts Extremely Heavy Rains in Several Districts

The India Meteorological Department has issued a red alert for several parts of Telangana, forecasting heavy to extremely heavy rainfall on September 24, 25 and 26. A severe depression over the Bay of Bengal is moving west-northwest and is expected to cross the coast near Kalingapatnam, between north Andhra Pradesh and south Odisha, by Wednesday night. Its impact is likely to bring widespread rainfall across Telangana over the next three days.

According to the weather department, Kumuram Bheem Asifabad, Mancherial, Jayashankar Bhupalpally, Mulugu and Bhadradri Kothagudem districts are likely to receive extremely heavy to exceptionally heavy rainfall on Thursday. With the red alert in place, Disaster Management Minister Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy has directed the collectors of the affected districts to remain on high alert and take necessary precautionary measures.
