Supreme Court Recognizes Homemakers as Nation Builders

The Supreme Court has observed that domestic care services provided by homemakers are invaluable and cannot be quantified. The court emphasized that the contributions of homemakers play a crucial role in nation-building and deserve formal recognition in society.

The court further suggested that the term “homemaker” should be replaced with “nation builder” to acknowledge their contribution. It also stated that, in addition to the guidelines laid down in the earlier Pranay Sethi judgment, the value of household services should now be included in compensation assessments, giving due recognition to their work.
