Supreme Court Issues Key Directions on Jantar Mantar Protests

The Supreme Court has taken up the matter related to the protests at Jantar Mantar and issued important directions. It stated that protesters without any criminal background should be released. Notices have been issued to the governments of Delhi, Assam, Bihar, West Bengal, Maharashtra, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, and Kerala. The court also directed authorities to preserve CCTV footage related to the incident.

The apex court further instructed that students who participated in the protests should not be arrested. It also emphasized that the personal data of protesters must not be made public. Stressing the need to balance law enforcement with democratic rights, the court indicated that further guidelines may be issued in the upcoming hearings.
