The Supreme Court has dismissed a petition filed by a 40-year-old woman challenging the anticipatory bail granted to an accused in an alleged sexual assault case. The matter was heard by a bench comprising Justices Sandeep Mehta and Vijay Bishnoi. The petitioner had approached the apex court seeking cancellation of the anticipatory bail granted by the Telangana High Court to the accused, Pratham Singh.
According to the complaint, the alleged incident took place on May 30, 2023, at a student apartment on the ISB campus in Hyderabad. However, the FIR was lodged only on December 26, 2025, leading the High Court to consider the significant delay while granting anticipatory bail. During the hearing, the Supreme Court questioned the delay in filing the complaint and noted the circumstances surrounding the case. When informed that the petitioner was 40 years old and the accused 38, the bench dismissed the Special Leave Petition. The court, however, granted the petitioner liberty to approach the lower court regarding a request to direct the accused to deposit his passport to prevent him from leaving the country.
