Several prominent voters have received notices from the Election Commission as part of the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls in Delhi. External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar and his wife, Kyoko Jaishankar, were reportedly served notices under the “Unmapped with Last SIR” category. Reports said their current electoral details could not be linked to the 2002 SIR records. The couple is registered as voters in the Sunder Bagh area of the New Delhi Assembly constituency.
The wife and son of CPM MP John Brittas, Sheba Brittas and Anand Brittas, have also reportedly received SIR notices. Former Army Chief General Upendra Dwivedi and his wife Sunita Dwivedi were also listed under the “Unmapped with Last SIR” category. Reports further said CBI Director Praveen Sood and members of his family were among those issued notices during the verification exercise. Election authorities have clarified that receiving an SIR notice does not automatically mean that a voter’s name will be deleted from the electoral roll.
