Sharmila Questions Governments Over Weavers' Issues

On the occasion of National Handloom Day, Andhra Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) President Y.S. Sharmila Reddy extended greetings to weavers and their families. She described handloom as a symbol of India's rich cultural heritage and urged people to support weavers by wearing handloom products. She said the skill and creativity of weavers are a matter of national pride.

Sharmila alleged that the condition of weavers has deteriorated over the past 12 years due to GST and the failure to implement welfare promises. She demanded the complete withdrawal of GST on handloom products, waiver of cooperative society loans, immediate release of pending subsidies, implementation of loan waiver schemes, and restoration of the Handloom Board. She urged both the Central and State governments to take concrete steps for the welfare of weavers.
