Andhra Pradesh Assembly Deputy Speaker Raghurama Krishna Raju has suffered a setback in the Supreme Court in connection with a bank fraud case linked to Ind-Bharat Power Gencom. The apex court dismissed petitions seeking the quashing of the FIR registered in the case. It also rejected the quashing petitions filed by the company’s directors. The bench observed that it could not interfere with the ongoing investigation, allowing the legal process to proceed in accordance with the law.
The case involves allegations of fraud and diversion of funds amounting to ₹237 crore. The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) is probing the matter. The Supreme Court directed the investigating agency to complete the investigation and file a charge sheet within 16 weeks. With the petitions seeking cancellation of the FIR dismissed, the investigation into the alleged financial irregularities is set to continue.
