Rising Temperatures Fuel Dengue, Chikungunya Spread

A recent study has revealed that rising temperatures and changing weather patterns are contributing to the spread of dengue and chikungunya across India. Health experts say prolonged heat followed by heavy rainfall creates ideal conditions for mosquito breeding, leading to an increase in infections.

In Andhra Pradesh, 5,286 dengue cases were reported in 2019, which increased to 6,453 cases in 2023. In 2024, the state recorded 5,555 cases. Officials have attributed the rise in cases to changing climate conditions and urged people to take preventive measures against mosquito borne diseases.
