Repeated Bomb Threats Target Delhi Schools

A series of bomb threats to schools in Delhi has triggered heightened security measures across the national capital. On Friday, Balram Public School in Mayur Vihar Phase 1 received a bomb threat call. The Delhi Fire Service said the information was received at around 8:40 a.m., following which police, fire officials and emergency response teams reached the school and began searches. Classrooms, corridors and other areas of the premises are being thoroughly checked, with the security operation currently underway.

Meanwhile, police said several prominent schools in Delhi received bomb threat emails earlier this week. The British School in Chanakyapuri, Army Public School in Dhaula Kuan, Sardar Patel Vidyalaya in Lodhi Estate, Air Force Bal Bharati School and Carmel Convent School were among those reportedly targeted. Police said the emails were suspected to have been written in Punjabi and contained threats against schools, police stations, police posts and court complexes. The messages also reportedly warned people against travelling on the Delhi Metro and trains until September 29. Security teams conducted extensive searches at the locations mentioned in the threats, but no explosives were found, according to officials.
