Congress leader and Lok Sabha MP Rahul Gandhi has written to Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren, urging him to personally meet representatives of job aspirants who have been protesting for 23 days over alleged irregularities in state recruitment examinations. Rahul said peaceful protest is a fundamental pillar of democracy and noted that the Congress has been supporting students protesting against paper leaks and irregularities in the education system. He said the students’ demands in Jharkhand were legitimate and deserved the government’s immediate attention.
Rahul pointed out that although a committee constituted by the state government is already engaging with the protesting students, some aspirants continue their hunger strike. He urged Soren to meet them directly, listen to their concerns and take appropriate steps to resolve the issue. Meanwhile, the protests have intensified, with job aspirants accusing the JMM-Congress alliance government of failing to provide satisfactory assurances. On Sunday, protesters in Ranchi burned effigies of Hemant Soren, Rahul Gandhi and RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav, while also demanding stronger intervention from the Congress leadership.
