Supreme Court Issues Key Directions to Karnataka on Cauvery Water Release

The Supreme Court has issued key directions to Karnataka in the Cauvery water dispute, ordering the state to release Cauvery water to Tamil Nadu. The court said Karnataka must comply with the directions of the Cauvery Water Management Authority (CWMA) and ensure that water is released in accordance with the authority’s orders.

The court directed Karnataka to release 12,000 cusecs of water to Tamil Nadu for 12 days. The Supreme Court has scheduled the next hearing for August 24 and may issue further directions after assessing the prevailing water-release situation.
