Telangana Ministers Tummala Nageswara Rao and Uttam Kumar Reddy met Union Civil Aviation Minister Ram Mohan Naidu in New Delhi and urged the Centre to expedite the establishment of a Greenfield Airport near Kothagudem in Bhadradri Kothagudem district. The ministers thanked the Union Ministry for conducting an earlier feasibility survey and informed that the state government has now proposed an alternative site after the previously identified location was found unsuitable for airport construction.
The ministers highlighted the strategic importance of the project, stating that the airport would significantly boost tourism, industry, education, and regional connectivity. They noted that the proposed airport would provide easier access for devotees visiting the renowned Sri Sita Ramachandra Swamy Temple at Bhadrachalam, often referred to as the “Dakshina Ayodhya.” The Telangana government assured full cooperation for the project and expressed confidence that the long-pending dream of a Greenfield Airport in Kothagudem could soon become a reality.
