

The 2026 Academy Awards celebrated remarkable achievements in global cinema, with One Battle After Another emerging as the biggest winner of the night. The film won the Best Picture award, while Paul Thomas Anderson received the Best Director and Best Adapted Screenplay honours. Sean Penn was named Best Supporting Actor for the same film. The editing award went to Andy Jurgensen and the casting award was won by Cassandra Kulukundis.
Among the other major winners, Michael B. Jordan won the Best Actor award for Sinners, while Jessie Buckley received the Best Actress award for Hamnet. Amy Madigan was honoured as Best Supporting Actress for Weapons. Sinners also won multiple awards, with Autumn Durald Arkapaw winning Best Cinematography, Ludwig Göransson receiving Best Music and Ryan Coogler winning Best Original Screenplay.
Several other films also made their mark at the ceremony. Gareth John, A. I. Nelson, Gwendalyn Yates Whittle, Gary A. Rizzo and John Peralta won Best Sound for F1. Joe Letteri, Richard Baneham, Eric Saindon and Daniel Barrett received Best Visual Effects for Avatar: Fire and Ash. Tamara Deverell and Shane Vieau won Best Production Design for Frankenstein, while Mike Hill, Jordan Samuel and Cleona Furey received Best Makeup and Hairstyling and Kate Hawley won Best Costume Design for the same film. K-Pop Demon Hunters won Best Animated Feature Film and also secured Best Original Song for Golden Song. The Girl Who Cried Pearls won Best Animated Short Film, while The Singers and Two People Exchanging Saliva won the Best Live Action Short Film award. Mr. Nobody Against Putin won Best Documentary Feature and All the Empty Rooms won Best Documentary Short Film, while Sentimental Value from Norway was honoured as Best International Feature Film.
