The Union Minister for Civil Aviation, K. Rammohan Naidu, has clarified that the central government has no proposal to blend ethanol with Aviation Turbine Fuel (ATF). He strongly refuted the claims circulating on social media, calling them completely baseless. The minister emphasized that spreading misinformation about aviation safety could create unnecessary panic among passengers and reiterated that passenger safety remains the government’s top priority.
The clarification comes after Aam Aadmi Party chief Arvind Kejriwal raised concerns on social media, suggesting that ethanol blending in ATF could pose a threat to flight safety. Responding to this, the minister explained that ethanol and Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) are entirely different. He added that SAF is approved by the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) and is used globally only after meeting strict safety standards and testing protocols.
