Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has firmly rejected the creation of a Palestinian state, saying it will not happen as long as he remains prime minister. He has also opposed a proposal put forward by US President Donald Trump, creating a fresh point of disagreement between the two leaders. Netanyahu’s position comes as Israel’s military campaign in Gaza continues.
Trump had announced a 15-point roadmap aimed at bringing an end to the conflict and restoring peace in Gaza. One of the key proposals calls for Israel and Hamas to agree to a ceasefire. The plan has received acceptance from the Palestinian side and several Gulf countries, but Netanyahu’s latest remarks could complicate efforts to move the proposal forward.
