Hyderabad H-New Police busted a major interstate ganja smuggling racket that used Speed Post services to supply narcotics across India. The operation was launched after the arrest of two accused with 2 kg of ganja, which led investigators to uncover the network. Police arrested the gang leader, Satyam Mishra, from Jharkhand, while four other accused remain absconding.
According to Hyderabad Police Commissioner V.C. Sajjanar, the gang sourced ganja from Jharkhand and shipped it through Speed Post by falsely declaring the parcels as medicines. The racket allegedly supplied ganja to 21 states, sending nearly 80 to 100 parcels daily. They used WhatsApp code words such as "Flower", "Mango", and "Stick" to communicate with customers.
Police revealed that the gang earned nearly ₹50 lakh per month and around ₹5 crore annually through the illegal trade. The accused spent the proceeds on luxury cars, gold, and other expensive assets. Hyderabad Police have alerted central agencies and other state police departments and initiated steps to seize the gang's illegally acquired properties.
