The publicity strategy of Vijay’s government has become a topic of discussion in political circles after full page advertisements were reportedly published in leading Telugu and national newspapers to mark 100 days of governance in Tamil Nadu. The campaign highlighted initiatives such as 200 units of free electricity, the ‘Singa Pen’ task force and the closure of 717 TASMAC outlets.
Critics question the use of Tamil Nadu’s budget for publicity outside the state and ask how such advertising benefits the people of Tamil Nadu. Political analysts also argue that issues such as law and order, power shortages and the experience of new ministers need greater attention, while relying on media publicity to create temporary political hype may not deliver lasting results.
