

Water Resources Minister Nimmala Ramanaidu has directed officials to expedite the Varikapudisela Lift Irrigation Scheme, aimed at providing irrigation and drinking water to the upland areas of Palnadu district. He instructed officials to complete the Detailed Project Report (DPR) by the end of October and obtain approval for the pre-feasibility report before conducting a public consultation. The minister reviewed the progress of the project with officials at the Velagapudi Secretariat on Thursday night.
The government has allocated Rs 63 crore for acquiring 586 acres of land required for the project, Ramanaidu said, directing officials to complete the land acquisition process within four months. He said Varikapudisela has been included among the 36 priority projects of the government and stressed that completing the scheme at the earliest is a key government objective. Narasaraopet MP Lavu Srikrishnadevarayalu, MLA Julakanti Brahmanandareddy, Irrigation Adviser M. Venkateswara Rao, ENC Narasimha Murthy and other officials attended the meeting.
