The State Election Commission is reviewing the schedule for local body elections following directions from the Supreme Court. As part of the revised arrangements, candidates in certain areas have been given another opportunity to file nominations for municipal elections. Nominations are scheduled to be accepted over two days, according to the supplied report. Municipal polling, which was originally planned for October 28, has been postponed to November 1, while vote counting is scheduled for November 3.
The changes are also expected to affect the previously announced polling schedule for Zilla Parishad Territorial Constituency (ZPTC) and Mandal Parishad Territorial Constituency (MPTC) elections. The commission has reportedly discussed moving these elections from November 3 to November 5. Holding municipal vote counting and ZPTC polling on the same day could create challenges involving security arrangements and the deployment of election staff. The commission is expected to announce its final decision officially after reviewing complaints, court directions and logistical requirements. The proposed November 5 date remains subject to official confirmation.
