Legal Battle Over Trump Tariffs, Decision Challenged in Court

A fresh legal battle has emerged over US President Donald Trump’s tariff measures, with 25 American states moving to court against the decision. The states challenged the imposition of tariffs of up to 12.5% on around 60 countries, including India, alleging that Trump exceeded his presidential authority.

Trump defended the tariff policy, stating that several countries had failed to prevent forced labour practices. However, the states argued that the president does not have unlimited authority to impose such broad trade measures. The legal challenge could have a significant impact on US trade policies.
