Prime Minister Narendra Modi stated that India is growing at an unprecedented pace and is presenting a new model of development to the world. Speaking at a diaspora event titled ‘Kia Ora Modi’ in Auckland during his New Zealand visit, attended by Prime Minister Christopher Luxon, Modi highlighted the strong friendship and shared values between the two nations. He emphasized that India is currently the fastest-growing major economy and is making remarkable progress in sectors such as drone technology and space commerce.
Modi further noted that India and New Zealand aim to elevate their ties to a strategic partnership, with a target to double bilateral trade to 7 billion New Zealand dollars by 2030. The discussions between the two leaders resulted in 18 key decisions, including 10 agreements covering areas such as maritime data sharing, naval cooperation, counter-terrorism, and investments. New Zealand is expected to invest 2 billion dollars in India over the next 15 years. Modi also invited investments in logistics, clean energy, urban transport, and water management, calling India a global launchpad for growth.
