The High Court on Wednesday reserved its verdict on petitions filed by A. Revanth Reddy seeking the quashing of criminal cases registered during the Huzurnagar by-election campaign. After hearing arguments from both sides, Justice K. Sujana announced that the judgment would be delivered at a later date. The cases relate to alleged violations of the Model Code of Conduct during election campaigning.
According to the complaints filed by authorities, Revanth Reddy, who was then a Member of Parliament, had participated in campaign activities in support of Congress candidate Padmavathi Reddy, wife of senior leader N. Uttam Kumar Reddy. Officials alleged that an unauthorized roadshow led to traffic disruptions and that the use of loudspeakers and music systems caused inconvenience to the public. Separate criminal cases were registered against several leaders, including N. Uttam Kumar Reddy, Padmavathi Reddy, Komatireddy Venkat Reddy, and Geetha Reddy. The petitions seeking the dismissal of five such cases are now awaiting the court’s verdict.
