High Court Rejects Petition Filed by Daggubati Suresh, Venkatesh and Rana

The High Court has dismissed a petition filed by noted producer Daggubati Suresh, actors Venkatesh and Rana Daggubati, seeking to quash a criminal case registered against them in connection with a lease dispute. The court observed that the mere civil nature of a dispute does not justify quashing criminal proceedings at the preliminary stage. The case originated from a private complaint filed by Kora Nandakumar, based on which the Nampally court had taken cognizance and registered a criminal case.

During the hearing before Justice N. Tukaramji, the petitioners argued that the dispute was purely civil and that criminal proceedings were being misused to harass them. However, the complainant alleged that the petitioners had unlawfully entered the leased premises, damaged doors, and removed articles from the property. After examining the complaint and supporting affidavits, the High Court found prima facie material supporting the allegations. The court ruled that the petitioners may raise their objections before the trial court and declined to interfere with the criminal proceedings.
