Government Advisor V. Hanumantha Rao raised concerns over the growing culture of co-living hostels where young men and women stay together. He called for the immediate formation of a high-level committee to examine how these hostels operate, the conditions prevailing there, and their impact on youth.
Speaking on the issue, Hanumantha Rao said a comprehensive study is needed before deciding whether such hostels should be banned or brought under stricter regulations. He stated that discussions usually arise only after undesirable incidents occur and stressed that a detailed inquiry should be conducted. Based on the committee’s findings, the government should take appropriate decisions to address the issue permanently.
