Hamza Bin Laden’s Video Sparks Fresh Buzz

The 9/11 terrorist attacks, which shook the United States and the world, mark their 25th anniversary on Friday. Against this backdrop, Al Qaeda has released a video featuring Hamza bin Laden, the son of the terror group's former leader Osama bin Laden. Hamza was reported to have been killed in a US counterterrorism operation along the Afghanistan-Pakistan border in 2019. However, several intelligence reports published in 2025 suggested that he could still be alive. The latest video has therefore raised fresh questions about his whereabouts and whether he is alive. The release is also being viewed as a possible attempt to project Hamza as a successor to Osama bin Laden.

On the 25th anniversary of the 9/11 attacks, the US ambassador to the UN Security Council said that the world had united to hunt down and capture those responsible for the attacks, including Osama bin Laden. Pakistan’s representative, meanwhile, reiterated his country’s opposition to terrorism. On September 11, 2001, Al Qaeda carried out a series of devastating attacks in the United States, killing thousands of people. In response, the US launched a major operation in 2011 and killed Osama bin Laden, who was found hiding in Pakistan.
