The Vijay-led Tamil Nadu Government has cancelled 46 projects worth ₹246 crore that were approved under the previous administration to be funded through temple resources. The decision follows a court directive emphasizing that temple assets and revenues should be utilized exclusively for religious and sacred purposes.
Acting on the court's observations, the Tamil Nadu Government has ordered the immediate suspension of the use of temple funds for the construction of marriage halls, commercial complexes, and other non-religious projects. Officials stated that all temple properties and revenues will henceforth be reserved solely for spiritual, religious, and cultural activities associated with temples.
