Ganga Corridor to Reshape Travel and Tourism in Varanasi

Ganga Corridor to Reshape Travel and Tourism in Varanasi

A major infrastructure upgrade is on the horizon for Varanasi, as a proposed ₹3,184 crore Ganga Corridor Project aims to significantly improve connectivity across the city. The ambitious project includes the construction of a 20-kilometre link corridor connecting NH-19, the Ring Road, and the Ganga riverfront. The initiative is expected to ease traffic congestion, reduce travel time, and provide seamless access to important religious, cultural, and tourist destinations.

The project is expected to build upon the transformation witnessed in Varanasi over the past decade through major developments such as the Kashi Vishwanath Corridor, ring roads, highway expansions, and riverfront beautification. Experts believe the new corridor will enhance urban mobility, strengthen tourism infrastructure, and support economic growth while preserving the city's cultural heritage. If implemented as planned, it could become one of the most significant infrastructure projects in eastern Uttar Pradesh.
