Friday Lakshmi Puja Rules: Traditional Practices for Prosperity and Auspiciousness

In Hindu religious traditions, Friday is associated with the worship of Goddess Lakshmi, who is regarded as a symbol of prosperity and abundance. Devotees traditionally begin the day by cleaning their homes, especially before sunrise, and decorating the entrance with rangoli. Wearing clean clothes is considered important, with white clothing regarded as auspicious in some traditions. Keeping used or discarded clothes hanging around the house is traditionally discouraged.

Several household practices are also associated with Friday Lakshmi worship. These include keeping essential items such as rice, turmeric and salt replenished, avoiding placing rice-measuring vessels upside down and choosing sattvic food according to personal religious practice. Devotees may light a ghee lamp before Goddess Lakshmi, offer fresh flowers or lotus flowers, perform prayers and recite devotional verses. Charity, food donation and feeding birds or animals are also considered auspicious in some traditions. Observing silence during certain spiritually significant periods is another practice mentioned in some astrological traditions. These customs are part of religious and cultural beliefs; there is no established scientific evidence that they directly increase wealth or guarantee material prosperity.
