Shamshabad airport police have arrested a key suspect in a case involving a series of fake bomb threat emails sent to airports across India. According to the police, the accused, Sharath Subramanyam, a software engineer from Chennai, was apprehended by a special team. Investigators found that he had allegedly sent threatening emails to several major airports, including Rajiv Gandhi International Airport (RGIA) in Hyderabad. Reports indicate that he targeted the airports with the alleged intention of implicating DMK leaders in Tamil Nadu, with whom he reportedly had personal grievances.
Investigators reportedly found that the accused had sent around 800 fake bomb threat emails to airports across the country during 2025 and 2026. Of these, 45 were allegedly sent to Shamshabad International Airport alone. A special police team, working under the supervision of senior officers, used cyber surveillance and technical evidence to trace the suspect to Chennai. He was subsequently brought to the Shamshabad police station in Hyderabad for questioning. After the investigation, a case was registered under the relevant laws, and the accused was produced before a court and remanded to judicial custody, according to the information provided.
