The Telangana EAGLE Force has intensified its crackdown on drug-related activities in Hyderabad. Acting on information about alleged cannabis sales from a house in LBS Nagar, Fathenagar, a team from the Hyderabad Narcotic Police Station conducted a surprise raid at night. Police arrested 75-year-old Shaik Jathen Bee, who is accused of storing and selling cannabis from the residence. Officers seized 41 small packets containing a total of 179.1 grams of cannabis, ₹43,340 in cash and a mobile phone. They also identified around 70 people who had reportedly visited the house to purchase the drug.
According to officials, medical tests showed that 66 of the 70 people tested positive for tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), the principal intoxicating compound in cannabis. Three of those identified were minors, and 65 people were reportedly sent to de-addiction or rehabilitation centres. Police said five other suspects allegedly linked to the operation remain absconding and that investigations are underway to trace the source of the cannabis supply. Officials also stated that seven previous cases under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act had been registered against the arrested woman. A fresh case has been filed under relevant provisions of the NDPS Act and the Juvenile Justice Act over the alleged supply of cannabis to minors.
