

The Election Commission of India (ECI) has announced the schedule for the upcoming Assembly elections in Tamil Nadu, Kerala, West Bengal, Assam, and the Union Territory of Puducherry during a press conference in New Delhi. According to the announcement, polling in Kerala and Puducherry will be held on April 9, while Tamil Nadu will go to the polls on April 23. West Bengal will conduct Assembly elections in two phases on April 23 and April 29, and Assam will also vote on April 9. The counting of votes for all these states and the union territory will take place on May 4.
Chief Election Commissioner stated that around 17.4 crore voters will participate in the elections across the four states and one union territory. Polling will be conducted in 824 Assembly constituencies, with over 2.18 lakh polling stations set up to ensure smooth voting. The commission has also ensured that each polling booth will have no more than 1,200 voters to maintain proper arrangements. Officials have conducted voter awareness campaigns and interacted with young voters to encourage participation, while also making necessary arrangements for transparent and fair elections.
