

Union Minister G. Kishan Reddy stated that the coal sector is playing a crucial role in the construction of a New India and emphasized that Prime Minister Narendra Modi personally reviews coal production and supply on a weekly basis. Addressing the media in Hyderabad, he said the NDA government has introduced significant reforms in the coal sector after taking office and has strengthened the country's energy security.
Kishan Reddy noted that India currently has coal reserves of 189 million tonnes and is making continuous efforts to reduce dependence on coal imports from countries such as China, Australia, and Indonesia. He revealed that studies on underground coal gasification are underway and discussions with private companies will be held on June 11. He also announced that ₹1,500 crore has been allocated for the Critical Minerals Mission. India currently imports 24 critical minerals, and six critical mineral blocks have been acquired in Argentina to strengthen the nation’s strategic resource security.
