Centre Takes Key Step to Curb Drugs.. National Conference of ANTF Chiefs Today

The Centre is stepping up efforts to curb drug trafficking and substance abuse across the country. As part of these measures, the third National Conference of Heads of Anti-Narcotics Task Forces (ANTF) of States and Union Territories will begin in New Delhi on September 22. The two-day conference will be inaugurated by Union Home Minister Amit Shah. Heads of ANTFs from all 36 States and Union Territories, along with representatives of concerned government departments and other stakeholders, will attend the meeting.

The conference, themed “United Resolve, Shared Responsibility”, will review progress on the targets outlined in the Vision Document on Narcotics Control 2026–29. Key issues on the agenda include dismantling drug cartels, tackling synthetic drugs and clandestine laboratories, and strengthening investigations involving the darknet and cryptocurrency. Discussions will also focus on supply reduction, demand reduction, harm reduction and stronger coordination between central and state agencies to advance the goal of a drug-free India.
