The Bharatiya Janata Party is taking a clear lead in West Bengal, with surprising gains emerging from minority-dominated regions. According to early trends, BJP candidates are leading even in constituencies with a significant Muslim population, indicating a notable shift in voting patterns. Analysts suggest that a division in the Muslim vote may have contributed to this outcome, particularly in districts like Malda, Murshidabad, and Uttar Dinajpur, where such trends are clearly visible.
However, in regions like South Bengal and Cooch Behar, voters appear to be favoring the All India Trinamool Congress. As per data from the Election Commission of India, the BJP is leading in 32 seats, while TMC is ahead in 9. Meanwhile, the BJP has already crossed the majority mark in Assam and Puducherry, further strengthening its position in the overall political landscape.
