The Bihar government has introduced a unique initiative to boost tourism across the state by encouraging government employees to visit tourist destinations regularly with their families. According to official instructions, employees are required to tour tourist locations across Bihar once every three months and submit reports suggesting ways to improve infrastructure and tourism facilities. The directive has reportedly been communicated to all department heads, district collectors, police superintendents, and government offices.
As part of the initiative, employees must spend at least two days visiting a minimum of three tourist destinations outside their home districts, including eco-tourism and rural tourism sites. The government clarified that the tours, preferably scheduled on Fridays and Saturdays, would be treated as official duty. Officials believe the move will help promote Bihar’s rich cultural heritage, historical sites, and tourism potential while also contributing to better infrastructure development and local economic growth in tourist regions.
