Bhatti Vikramarka Meets Karnataka Energy Minister

Telangana Deputy Chief Minister and Energy Minister Bhatti Vikramarka held a meeting with Karnataka Energy Minister K.J. George in Bengaluru today. The two ministers discussed Singareni coal supplies under the existing energy supply agreement and future energy requirements. Bhatti Vikramarka proposed using Singareni’s mining expertise for coal blocks held by Karnataka GENCO in Chhattisgarh and Odisha. He also suggested a joint mining partnership between Karnataka Power Corporation Limited and Singareni, a proposal that received a positive response from Minister K.J. George.

George requested uninterrupted coal supplies to Karnataka, following which Bhatti Vikramarka directed Singareni officials to ensure the supply of four coal rakes a day to Karnataka Power Corporation Limited. Singareni officials informed him that the company was ready to supply one million tonnes of coal annually from the Naini coal mine in Odisha for Karnataka’s power requirements. After the meeting, Bhatti Vikramarka is scheduled to inspect the gold and copper mineral block won by Singareni in Lingadahalli village of Devadurga taluk in Raichur district, Karnataka, and hold discussions with local officials on mineral exploration.
