Ayodhya Ram Temple Case - SIT Gives Chargesheet Timeline to SC

The Special Investigation Team (SIT) probing the alleged pilferage of donations at the Ram Temple in Ayodhya has informed the Supreme Court that it will file its first chargesheet in the case on or before September 25. The development comes as the statutory 90-day period from the first arrests is set to expire. Eight people were arrested on June 26 in connection with the alleged theft of devotees’ offerings.

The investigation has examined CCTV footage, cash-handling records, witness statements and other evidence. Earlier SIT findings had pointed to alleged security and supervision lapses in the donation-counting process, including inadequate frisking and gaps in CCTV monitoring. The Supreme Court had subsequently directed an IPS-led SIT to investigate the matter.
