Andhra Pradesh Flood Alert: Heavy Rains Swell Rivers, Low-Lying Areas Waterlogged

Heavy rains continued across Andhra Pradesh on Friday under the influence of a deep depression over the Bay of Bengal, triggering flooding in several rivers and streams and inundating low-lying areas. The India Meteorological Department has forecast heavy rainfall in parts of north Coastal Andhra Pradesh, while authorities are closely monitoring rivers, reservoirs and vulnerable areas. The rising water levels have disrupted connectivity at several locations. The Sharada River near Anakapalli is flowing vigorously, while floodwater has disrupted traffic near Ravada in Parvathipuram Manyam district. The Bahuda River near Ichchapuram in Srikakulam district has also witnessed increased flow, prompting a first flood warning at Gotta Barrage. The Seethapalli stream in Rampachodavaram, ghat roads in Alluri Sitharama Raju district and roads in other flood-affected areas have also been impacted.
