The Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) has implemented revised trading norms for the stock market from today. Under the new framework, regular trading in Futures and Options (F&O) stocks will conclude at 3:15 PM, followed by a special Closing Auction Session (CAS) from 3:15 PM to 3:35 PM. The price discovered during this auction will be treated as the official closing price for eligible F&O stocks.
In addition, SEBI has extended F&O trading hours by 10 minutes, allowing trading to continue until 3:40 PM. However, there is no change in the trading schedule for non-F&O equity cash segment stocks, which will continue to close at 3:30 PM. The new system is aimed at improving price discovery and ensuring greater transparency in determining closing prices.
