India's passenger vehicle market recorded robust growth in July, with domestic dispatches rising 33 percent year-on-year to nearly 4.7 lakh units. Maruti Suzuki and Hyundai posted record sales during the month, while Tata Motors and Mahindra & Mahindra registered strong double-digit growth. The impressive performance reflects continued consumer demand and positive momentum in the automobile sector.
Industry experts attributed the growth to the implementation of GST 2.0, lower repo rates and income tax relief for individuals earning up to ₹12 lakh annually, which boosted consumer confidence and purchasing power. Maruti Suzuki Senior Executive Officer (Marketing & Sales) Partho Banerjee said passenger vehicle sales increased from around 3.5 lakh units in July last year to between 4.65 lakh and 4.7 lakh units this July.
