The National Stock Exchange (NSE) will pay ₹1,491.21 crore to market regulator SEBI to settle long-pending co-location cases. The settlement is set to become the largest settlement in India’s capital market history. NSE said SEBI informed the exchange on July 30 that it had accepted its revised settlement offer. The development is expected to remove a major hurdle and pave the way for NSE’s much-awaited initial public offering (IPO).
NSE has already submitted draft documents to SEBI for its proposed IPO, through which it plans to raise around ₹30,000 crore. The settlement of the co-location-related cases is expected to make the IPO process smoother for the exchange. The significant settlement also marks an important step towards resolving the long-running regulatory issues surrounding NSE and could boost investor confidence ahead of its proposed public listing.
