Reliance Jio’s proposed initial public offering (IPO) has drawn attention as the company looks to address its reported debt of ₹70,781 crore. An IPO is a process through which a company offers its shares to the public to raise funds. According to the information provided, up to ₹27,500 crore from the proposed offering may be used to repay debt. The funds raised through an IPO generally go to the company when new shares are issued; however, the allocation of proceeds depends on the offer structure. If existing shareholders sell their shares, the proceeds from those shares go to the selling shareholders rather than the company.
The offering has reportedly attracted strong early interest, with demand on the first day reaching twice the number of shares available for subscription, according to the figures provided. Large investors have also reportedly committed ₹8,110 crore. The stated price is ₹13,428 per lot, though investors should confirm the final offer price, lot size and subscription details in the official IPO documents. Share prices can rise or fall after listing, and investing in an IPO carries risk. Investors should review the company’s financial disclosures, the use of IPO proceeds and their own financial situation before deciding whether to apply.
